FAQ's

  • Do the Weed mats come in different colours?

    No, they are all the natural coir fibre colour (very much like the colour of a coconut).

  • Are there different thicknesses of the Weed mats?

    Yes, the gsm of the mat tells the thickness – ie:  1200gsm is the densest matting – 500gsm is quite thin.



  • Does water go through them?

    Yes, both water & air pass easily through the Weed mat, but the weave is dense enough to block light & this is what prevents weeds growing.



  • Do they make the soil acidic?

    No, the Weed mat has a neutral PH.

  • What happens as the tree trunk grows & expands?

    The 100cm & the 80cm Weed mat have slits at the centre hole to allow for growth.

  • Will the Weed mat cause collar rot to trees?

    No, due to the air being able to go through the Weed mat it does not create dampness that won’t dry out.



  • Are they hard to install?

    No, they are very light weight & easily slip into place around the base of your plant, no shovelling required.

  • Can liquid fertilizer be used with Weed mats?

    Yes, this is an ideal way to fertilize your plants.

  • Can pellet fertilizer be used with Weed mats?

    Yes, you can still lift the mat to put fertilizer under it.

  • Is there a Bio Security risk with this product?

    Our product has been inspected and cleared by the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources Australia. Biosecurity Officer appointed under Section 545 of the Biosecurity Act 2015.
